In today's entry we look at a subject very close to many people's hearts - afternoon tea. What could be better after spending a wonderful day with your family or friends in London, shopping for your mother of the bride outfit or occasion wear at our boutique than celebrating 'job done' with a delicious afternoon tea afterwards.
We have chosen our top five spots to leave the world behind and indulge in a delicious array of finger sandwiches, cakes and exotic teas.
The quintessential afternoon tea served in a quaint British hotel. Just around the corner from Harrods, The Capital is a hotel that has a distinctly personal feel. With a firm nod to tradition (smoked salmon and cream cheese) but served in a modern way on beetroot bread and cucumber on matcha tea bread. This delicious afternoon tea by acclaimed Pastry Chef Claire Clark is well worth the visit.

Known not only for its fabulous food but also their find selection of teas, The Goring has served afternoon tea for over a century. For fashionistas there is no better place than The Berkeley for afternoon tea. Couture cakes, indulgent infusions and super sandwiches meet in this designer inspired afternoon tea. Head Pastry Chef Mourad Khiat's colourful creations not only look amazing but taste even better in this lighthearted and fun menu. Highlights include a Burberry inspired cheesecake a Ginavito Rossi biscuit and more.

Located in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel this contemporary afternoon tea is carefully curated by a dedicated Tea Master who has created a menu of bespoke blends that reflect the heritage of the hotel. Perfectly matched delicacies are expertly crafted and favourites include the braised beef short-rib and horseradish sandwich, the pina colada finger and the plum bakewell.

Created by Michelin starred head chef Shaun Rankin, Fleming's Mayfair have introduced an afternoon tea to match the decor and heritage of this very British establishment. Inspired by the new Peter Rabbit film, Fleming's Mayfair have created an edible garden of delights that will certainly put a smile on your face as much for their inventiveness as for their taste. Dive into Mr. McGregor's vegetable patch and enjoy refreshing, chilled Gazpacho, delicate sandwiches and, of course, carrot cake amongst other sweet toothed offerings.
